A woman in Germany reportedly suffered two broken legs after an asylum seeker threw her out of a window because she refused to have sex with him.
According to The Daily Mail, the accused, identified simply as 34-year-old Dawit A., allegedly got drunk at a refugee center and proceeded to threaten a 26-year-old woman identified as Tirhas with a broken bottle.
The woman reportedly claims that Dawit told her to lie down and demanded to know if she’d been with “another man.”
Some exchange happened and Dawit allegedly proceeded to hurl Tirhas out of a window. She reportedly fell 15 feet onto the concrete below.
According to The Daily Mail, prosecutors claim Tirhas and Dawit had another heated encounter last July when she attended a gathering in his room.
Dawit reportedly grew violent during the gathering, demanding sex from Tirhas. When she refused, he allegedly threw a set of keys out of the room’s window.
Speaking of the more recent incident, Tirhas reportedly told the German court, “I shouted, ‘please let me out of here.’ He demanded to know if I had another man. He threatened me with a broken bottle, wanted to stab me in the belly. He wanted sex, said I should lie down. When I kept saying no, he raised me up like a child, carried me to the window and dropped me.”
The woman reportedly continued, “he not only broke both my legs, but also my spirit.”
Dawit reportedly cried in court and claimed life has been unfair to him since he arrived in Germany in 2014.
Dawit is reportedly being investigated in two other cases – one in which he allegedly harassed another woman and another in which he allegedly sexually assaulted a 17-year-old girl.
According to The Daily Mail, Dawit will face up to five years behind bars if found guilty of assaulting Tirhas.
